The stewardship of our finances is a tremendous—and often overlooked—area of our lives where we can faithfully proclaim the gospel. Giving strengthens our devotion to Christ and frees us to live open-handedly with the gifts God gives us. We trust in Him and His provision instead of our perceived self-sufficiency. The Newest Elder on the Board of Good News Church: Ron Lynch

On Saturday, March 9, the elders nominated Ron Lynch to be an elder serving on the governing board of Good News Church. We announced the nomination the following Wednesday (March 13) in the church newsletter, on Facebook, and the church website. In that announcement, we said that as long as we saw no disqualifying factors present in his life (and you were asked to let us know if you were aware of anything) we would bring him on sometime in April.

Worship Song: My Beloved

The song I wanted to focus on in this article is, “My Beloved” by Crowder. We first sang this in the summer of 2017. One of our music leaders, Adam Lusk, first introduced this song while I was on vacation. It wasn’t something that happened behind my back, but he brought the song to me and said he wanted to sing it while I was away. I’m glad that our leaders feel confident enough to introduce new music while I’m not there to organize it.

Governing Board Update

The purpose of this article is to let you know about some small changes taking place regarding the governing board of Good News Church. The main things that are happening are that one elder (Adam Lusk) has rolled off the board after having completed his term as elder, two other elders (Lance Powers and Charles Chazal) have continued into their second terms as elders. And another person (Ron Lynch) has been nominated to take the place vacated by Adam Lusk.

Worship Song: All The People Said Amen

Back again with another article in the running series on the music we sing together at our services. This one is centered on the song, “All The People Said Amen” by Matt Maher. This song came out on April 23, 2013, but the first time we sang it was February 22, 2015. There was almost 2 full years between its release and us singing the song corporately at a Sunday morning service.

What About Santa Claus?

The timing of this article is admittedly awful. In one sense, answering this question in January could be the least helpful time to do it. My apologies, but I honestly didn't think about addressing this topic until now. And now that it's in my head and heart, I don't want to wait for 10 or 11 months, and then try to remember to bring it up at the end of 2019.
