Parents and Children’s Ministry go together like cupcakes and frosting!

Although this is ideally how it should work, sometimes we may not totally understand or have not considered how this happens practically. So, how should this partnership work?

Consider this:

1. Every Sunday we share the GOOD NEWS of the gospel with your children. They learn practical biblical principles to apply to their daily lives. They learn that the word of God is important but having a relationship with Jesus is even more important.
2. They establish community. We give your children an opportunity to learn in community and not in isolation or just with their families. We as adults understand our need for community but this is also true for children. They need to have community with children their own age and in a safe space. Every week they have a Christ centered, relational connection with God and kids on their age level. This helps to remind them that they are not alone and that God has placed others around them to encourage and support them.
3. We support you! Our goal is to help support what you are already teaching your children at home. You are their primary discipleship leaders. We just add to what you are already doing in a fun and unique way every week!

But please don't stop at Sundays! Please continue the process throughout the week.

HOW? I’m glad you asked!

Deuteronomy 6:6-7 states, “Repeat them to your children. Talk about them when you sit in your house and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. These words that I am giving you today are to be in your heart.”

1. Ask them every Sunday – What did you learn today? Now some of you may say I’ve asked them this and they’ve said very little or just weren't interested. ASK anyways! Why? The message that you are sending to your children is that when I come to church, I am expected to learn something or walk away with something valuable. They need to know that you value their time spent at church and do not see it as just baby sitting or just another Sunday School Lesson.
2. Continue the conversations throughout the week. Encourage them to learn their bible verses by writing it down, hanging it up on their walls, or even making bookmarks. Ask them about how they are applying what they’ve learned each day. This helps them to know that what they’ve learned is not just for Sundays, or church, but it is for every day.
3. If you need help, ASK! Many times, we may want to have biblical conversations or set up devotion time with our kids, but we do not know how or where to begin. Even more so, sometimes our kids may have spiritual questions or struggles we may not know how to address. This is simply normal and okay. Just be sure to ask your community group leaders, myself, or someone on staff for assistance. We may not have immediate answers but we can help direct you to helpful resources and pray with you through rough patches. We all need help at times! That is why a Christ centered community is important.

KidZone by itself will not be enough but together we are stronger and more fruitful! What we seek is to partner with you in a loving community where we can help disciple your child/children every week.
