I am so thankful that our church has a great ministry like KidZone! I am glad that there are infants being held, toddlers being played with, and elementary-aged kids getting taught Bible stories and gluing cotton balls onto paper sheep! And I am especially thankful for all the people who volunteer to make this ministry work.
Now, I just need to take a little time to fill you in on a couple of changes we have made/are making to KidZone over the next few weeks.
Charis Bickhart is the new coordinator for KidZone! This is something that we have announced during our church service and in our bulletin, but in case you missed either of those, I figured I’d announce it here as well. If you need to get a hold of her, her email address is: charis@goodnewsocala.com.
We are adding a class to our children’s ministry line up! On July 1, we are going to take what we currently call, “Primary Zone” (ages 3 up to 3rd grade) and break them into an upper and lower class - not “lower-class” in the way that term is often used - I just mean, younger and older. The lower class will consist of 3 year olds, 4 year olds, and Kindergarteners, and will meet in the room next to the toddler nursery. The upper class will consist of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd graders and will meet in the large room that they currently meet in. We feel this is the best way to minister to the wide range of ages that we have.
There will be a “Points Party” on June 24! This is an exciting time where kids total up the points they’ve earned over the weeks and get prizes. This will be the final “points party” for the 3, 4, and 5 year olds, as we believe they are a little young for some of the things that need to be accomplished in order to earn points. However, the points parties will continue for the upper class.
We are excited about these changes as we believe they will help us do an even better job teaching the kids that God has entrusted to us. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to send Charis an email, or call the church at 352-694-2322.
